Kerk Brown serves as the chief of staff for university advancement and alumni relations at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of the department’s senior leadership team, Kerk works with senior campus leaders, administrators, faculty and the UCI Foundation and Alumni Association Board of Directors to help the university achieve its ambitious goals as set forth in its strategic plan. Kerk previously served as the department’s senior director of human resources, overseeing the human resources team and implementing comprehensive strategies that enabled the division to attract, develop, engage and retain top talent.
Prior to joining UCI, Kerk was the director of human resources for the vice provost and dean of research at Stanford University, supporting 30 independent labs, centers and institutes. He is an Army veteran with more than 26 years of military service, culminating in retirement as a Colonel.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a master’s degree in strategic studies from the US Air Command & Staff College, a master’s degree in advanced strategic studies from the US Army War College and a master’s degree in human resources management from Troy State University.
